There are several WAN Optimisation vendors in the marketplace today, and all will tell you that there appliances are “plug and play”. Yes you may be able to install them with some ease (some vendors easier then others), and yes you may be able to see some benefits immediately, but are you obtaining the maxim benefit from the appliances you have purchased.
The reality is that every company is different. Every company runs different IT systems, different applications and has a different requirement from the IT Department.
That is why we at WAN Performance spend time with our clients to fully understand what applications are being used within the company and how they are being delivered to the users. What are the critical applications for running the business and what are the background applications. You may still be running “legacy” applications that are still important but may be hard to support and monitor. We will then recommend the best solution to provide you with maximum benefit at a realistic price.
We spend a lot of time planning the installation so that there is the least possible disruption to the users (or none at all!). We have many years of experience that allows us to fine tune the optimisation of each and every one of your applications so that your users obtain the best possible performance enhancement from your investment in WAN Optimisation.
But just as important as improving the performance to your users, you need full visibility of what is actually happening over your network. What applications are on the network (did you know Joe in the back office was running Skype and playing games over the internet?). Do you know how much bandwidth each application is using at any given time of the day or day of the week? This is why we provide you with all that information in an easy understandable report both in real time and via email on a regular basis.
Once we have fully optimised your network we will define “SLAs” within the Optimisers so that if in the future any application unexpectedly slows down, we can notify you via an alert before your users start complaining. It maybe that your supplier of MPLS is dropping packets because there network is starting to get congested. It may be your server is running out of memory and needs updating. We will provide the tools to help you track down the problem quickly.
We can and often do provide remote management and support of your WAN Optimisers so that you can rest in the knowledge that your provision of applications to your users is always at its best. Lastly systems never remain the same. The user numbers may be increasing. You may be adding new applications or upgrading the operating system of your PC’s and servers. That is why we meet with our clients on a regular basis to analyse the reports and “fine tune” the optimisation policies so that you are always obtaining the best from your investment. |
